Previously, Falling Squirrel announced a tentative release date for our audio adventure game, The Vale, for Spring 2020. Due to complications presented by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it is with a heavy heart that we must announce today that we do not have a definitive launch date for The Vale.
While the game is nearly complete, we still need to record our final voice-over session, and local recording facilities are now just opening up, which means it will still be some time before we can get into the studio to finish recording. Once recording is complete and a gold master candidate of the game is ready, we will still need to pass Xbox certification before launching on PC and Xbox One. This process will likely take longer than normal due to the ongoing pandemic, as the certification teams are running at reduced capacity, while the number of games being submitted has not changed.
As always, we thank you, The Vale community, for your understanding and patience. More than anything we want The Vale to be a great game and we appreciate the encouragement we’ve received from our community to take the time needed to get things right.
On a final note, as a company we held back on game promotion on social media over the past month. It didn’t seem appropriate to be promoting our game against the backdrop of a very significant moment for civil rights in the US, Canada and across the world. We wanted to leave room for important dialogue regarding police reform and anti-black racism. We will continue to dedicate our personal lives to educate ourselves, donate, spread awareness, protest, contact local government, and listen - because Black Lives Matter.
